HeatnBond PeelnStick Fabric Fuse Hem Tape 5/8 inch x 20 Foot Roll, Clear
$ 1.48
The thread for the front hems of my slacks got caught in the hook of my shoe. After putting up with dragging hems for longer than I want to admit – and after wrecking the hems on multiple pairs of slacks (SIGH), I thought I’d give this item a try. I picked this particular item because no ironing or sewing was involved – I just had to put the clothes in the dryer for 15 minutes to set the adhesive. Seems to be working fine, although I’ve only run the repaired clothes through one wash & dry cycle. So it remains to be seen how long the repaired hems hold up. I have quite a bit of tape left over, so if I need to repair these hems again, I’ll be ready. LOL The tape adhesive is VERY sticky, so you do have to be careful not to wrinkle the fabric when (1) first placing the tape on the back fabric to start the hem repair, (2) removing the backing from the tape, and (3) placing the front fabric over the tape to complete the hem repair. Since my hems were at my ankles and I assumed any fabric wrinkles wouldn’t be that noticeable, I impatiently used big long strips to repair my hems. So I did end up with wrinkles in 2 out of 6 repaired hems. If your hems are not ankle located, patiently take your time when using this tape. There are no do-overs with this stuff.
